Courtney Watts’ practice explores creativity as a form of healing through contemporary craft. Through embellished wearable bandages, she reframes familiar symbols of care and repair as objects of adornment, transforming embroidery and beading into a form of creative medicine.

Informed by research in neuroscience, her work considers the relationship between repetitive, tactile making and the nervous system. Through stitching, embellishment, and communal making, Watts explores craft as a shared experience of repair that fosters connection and personal agency.

Extending these ideas beyond the individual object, Watts creates immersive installations that expand the intimate language of craft into physical spaces, inviting viewers into the material and conceptual worlds from which her work emerges.
